Smart Networks

More of us are using the Internet in ways we hadn’t previously imagined: sending huge files back and forth, watching YouTube videos, and downloading HD movies. By next year, 20 average U.S. households will generate more traffic than the entire Internet did in 1995.

We need a bigger, faster, smarter Internet built for the way we work, shop and play online today and into the future. “Smart network” technologies have been developed and are beginning to be implemented that manage networks more efficiently and enhance cybersecurity. Infrastructure improvements allow Internet service providers (ISPs) to take preventative action against cyber threats, in many cases providing an early warning of attacks before they become major events, compromising data and slowing down Internet traffic.
