Pacific Technology Alliance is an organization dedicated to preserving the promise of innovation in the way we communicate and connect with one another.  To that end, we work diligently to engage with the public on how technology is changing the way we live, and educate policymakers on building a regulatory and legislative framework that fosters competition and innovation.  To learn more about our work and the issues we care about, check out the links below.

Broadband Revolution

PacTech is committed to promoting policies that ensure everyone has access to a broadband connection. At PacTech we support well-informed public policies that provide incentives for the private sector to invest in advanced networks and offer innovative services. We think it’s critical to educate consumers and policymakers on the importance of broadband access and adoption. We believe that our economy and future prosperity are dependent on a robust broadband infrastructure.

Broadband factoids:

  • One-third (100 million) of Americans haven’t adopted broadband at home
  • Closing the digital divide will create $32 billion in annual economic value
  • According to recent studies, nearly 1.6 million jobs were created by the national shift to wireless broadband network technology between April 2007 and June 2011

Spectrum

Mobility is changing virtually every aspect of modern society. Today we turn to our wireless devices for more than just phone calls. Whether watching video, connecting with friends, staying on top of work or checking your stock portfolio, mobile connectivity is central to our lives, and we’ve only just begun to scratch the surface.

However, with the exploding demand for mobility, we face a serious supply imbalance for the finite radio waves that connect people to their wireless devices – Spectrum. Everything from games on your tablet, to connected laptops to cell phones use spectrum. Spectrum is what makes all wireless connectivity possible.

Policy makers, who control this finite resource, must move quickly and responsibly to make more spectrum available to keep pace with the growing consumer demand.
